In short

PetCook has no user account, no advertising and no tracking. The free tier runs entirely on your device and transmits nothing at all. Only the premium features — photo recognition, dictation and AI recipes — send what they need to our relay service, which forwards it to the AI provider Anthropic. Content is not retained.

Data on your device

Your pet's profile (name, species, weight, age, activity, neutering, allergies), collected ingredients, generated recipes and meal-prep plans are stored only in the app's own directory. They are not transmitted to us and not stored by us. If you use iCloud backups, Apple includes this directory with your other app data.

The check for toxic foods and the daily-ration calculation run entirely on the device — offline and without a subscription.

Premium: what is sent to our service

When you start an AI feature, the app sends the following to petcook.snipestats.app:

• the names of the collected ingredients,
• the image you selected, for photo recognition,
• the recognised text, for dictation,
• the key figures of the pet profile, including the pet's name, so amounts and wording are right,
• the Apple-signed receipt for your subscription.

Our service verifies the receipt, counts your monthly allowance and forwards the request to Anthropic. Content — images, text, profile details — is not stored. It exists only for the duration of the request.

What we do store permanently: the transaction identifier Apple assigns to your subscription, your usage in the current month, and the time of last use. That identifier is not linked to a name or an email address — we do not know who you are. The entry is deleted after two months without use.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: without this transmission the purchased feature cannot be provided.

Recipients

• Anthropic PBC (USA) generates the recipes and recognises ingredients. Anthropic retains API inputs for a limited period for abuse monitoring. Privacy notice
• Our server is located in Germany and operated by us.
• Apple handles purchase and billing; we receive neither your name nor payment details from Apple.

Microphone, speech recognition and camera

Microphone and speech recognition are active only while you dictate. The app uses Apple's speech recognition to turn audio into text, which may transmit audio to Apple. The recording itself never reaches our server — only the recognised text. No recordings are stored. Camera and photos are used solely for the image you select.

What we do not do

No advertising, no tracking, no analytics tools, no sharing or selling of data, no profiling, no third-party crash reporting.

Deletion

Deleting the app removes all data on the device. We will delete your server-side usage counter on informal request to kasimirgritz@gmail.com — please include the transaction identifier shown in the app's subscription screen; without it we cannot identify the entry. Otherwise it expires by itself after two months without use.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact kasimirgritz@gmail.com.

PetCook is not a substitute for veterinary advice. A long-term home-cooked diet should be agreed with a vet or a qualified animal nutritionist.
