In short

PetCook has no user account, no advertising and no analytics. Your dog's profile, your ingredients and your recipes stay on your device. Only when a recipe is generated are the necessary details sent to the AI service Anthropic, using your own API key.

Data on your device

• Dog profile (name, weight, age, activity, neutering, allergies), collected ingredients, generated recipes and meal-prep plans are stored locally in the app's own directory.
• Your Anthropic API key is kept in the iOS Keychain — encrypted and separate from the rest of the app data.
• None of this is transmitted to us; we operate no server that receives user data.

Transmission to Anthropic (recipe generation)

When you generate a recipe, a meal-prep plan or run ingredient recognition, the app sends the following directly from your device to api.anthropic.com:

• the names of the collected ingredients,
• the selected image, for photo recognition,
• the recognised text, for voice input,
• the key figures of the dog profile (weight, age, activity, allergies), so that portions are correct.

The request runs under your own API key, so your contractual relationship is with Anthropic. Their privacy notice: anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Without a stored key nothing is transmitted — the check for food that is toxic to dogs runs entirely on the device.

Microphone, speech recognition and camera

• Microphone and speech recognition are used only while you are dictating. Apple's speech recognition performs the transcription and may transmit audio to Apple for that purpose. No recordings are stored.
• Camera and photos are used only for the image you choose. It is transmitted solely for ingredient recognition and is not stored permanently.

What we do not do

• No account, no registration, no credentials.
• No tracking, no analytics SDKs, no ad networks.
• No sharing or selling of data to third parties.

Deleting your data

Use Profil → Alle Daten löschen to remove profile, ingredients and recipes. Deleting the app removes all local data including the key stored in the Keychain.

Your rights

As we neither collect nor store personal data, requests for access or erasure directed at us have nothing to act upon. For data processed by Anthropic or Apple, please contact the respective provider. We are happy to answer questions by email.
